I went with 20 other
people from work to the Pine Street Inn in Boston to help out with some food
prep before one of their meals. We
chopped 680 lbs of vegetables! Pine Street Inn feeds ~1300 people per day
in addition to providing shelter and counseling for the homeless people in
Boston, so the ready-to-cook veggies and the donation we made was very much
appreciated. I was lucky enough to be
stationed at the onion table. As my
mother will attest to, I actually do love chopping onions, so they were tears
of happiness streaming down my face. My friend
and I got through a whole 50 pound bag by ourselves!
