Nicole recently had emergency surgery and I spent time in
the hospital waiting area. There was not a lot to do, no TV to watch, and
nothing to read. They had a cute children's table and bookcase available, but
nothing for kids to read or color. I wondered how many kids came here
unprepared for a long wait.
I started collecting picture books, coloring books,
colored pencils and washable toys to put on the bookshelf. And got small pads
of paper and crayon boxes so the kids could take it "to go". The
volunteer at the information desk will pass out these as needed.
